The Buddhism in Australia project—led by the Humanistic Buddhism Centre (HBC) at Nan Tien Institute and supported by HYEF—is the first national study documenting Buddhism’s diversity within Australia’s multicultural landscape. 

Thanks to donor support, researchers are conducting surveys, oral histories, and heritage studies that preserve Buddhist stories across temples, communities, and sacred sites. 

This multi-university collaboration strengthens understanding between cultures and enhances religious literacy, ensuring that the voices of Australia’s Buddhist communities are recognised in the nation’s shared story.
