SDG Initiatives: Children's Creativity & VegRun
Inspiring Young Minds and Communities for a Sustainable Future
Year: Since 2021
In support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Hsing Yun Education Foundation (HYEF) sponsors and organises initiatives that combine education, creativity, and kindness to promote sustainable living and mental wellbeing. Since 2021, HYEF has proudly supported the SDG-themed Children’s Competition, organised by Nan Tien Buddhist Temple Parramatta and BLIA Sydney Subchapters. Each year, children explore a chosen SDG theme through art, essays, eco-box creations, and storytelling in the spirit of the Three Acts of Goodness—to do good deeds, speak good words, and think good thoughts for a better world.
HYEF also organises VegRun, an annual charity fun run held during the Buddha’s Birthday Festival at Darling Harbour since 2023, raising awareness for mental health and wellbeing while supporting Lifeline and the Black Dog Institute.
Together, these initiatives turn Buddhist compassion into everyday action—cultivating hope, health, and harmony for generations to come.
