In honour of the passing of Fo Guang Shan founder, Venerable Master Hsing Yun, on 5 February 2023 at the age of 97, we have created this condolence page for our community to share their messages.
The Venerable Master has been a dedicated and inspirational leader in the Buddhist community. Throughout his life, he worked towards propagating Humanistic Buddhism and promoting peace, education, love and compassion across the world. His legacy continues to inspire millions to create a positive impact.
With a mind as vast and boundless as emptiness,
A body like an unbound boat that sails the ocean of Dharma.
What merit and virtue have I accomplished in this lifetime?

2023年2月5日，佛光山开山 上星下云大师，于庄严念佛声中，圆寂于佛光山传灯楼开山寮，享耆寿97岁。澳洲星云大师教育基金会特设立此网页，供大众追思缅怀。
大师一生弘扬人间佛教、建设佛光净土、利益群生。综观大师一生，秉持佛陀教法，提倡 “以文化弘扬佛法，以教育培养人才”，为教界树立典范，为世间带来光明。大师的慈心悲愿亦启发众人追随其脚步，为增进人类福祉做出贡献。

My deepest condolences to the family and our GREAT founder Venerable Master Hsing Yun. Thank you Master for the Dharma, you have shared to us, and thank you for the support you’ve given to us Filipino students.

First of all, I would like to extend my deepest condolences to all Fo Guang Families all over the world. I am proud to say that I am one of Ven. Master Hsing Yun graduating scholar in the Philippines in the Buddhist Studies program, I just want to say thank you for your life and for giving us Filipino youth, hope to continue our education amidst the pandemic. While writing this I can’t hold back my tears because of your unconditional love for us Filipinos, I am grateful to be part of the gang ming family and to be part of your advocacy to learn, inspired, and spread your teachings as our guide in our daily lives encounters. I am still thankful that I met you personally to say thank you way back in 2019 during the Chinese new year. At least once in my life, I saw you personally because of causes and conditions, thank you very much, Master, for everything and to all people behind this wonderful advocacy. Once again, my deepest condolences to all Fo Guang family.
