In honour of the passing of Fo Guang Shan founder, Venerable Master Hsing Yun, on 5 February 2023 at the age of 97, we have created this condolence page for our community to share their messages.
The Venerable Master has been a dedicated and inspirational leader in the Buddhist community. Throughout his life, he worked towards propagating Humanistic Buddhism and promoting peace, education, love and compassion across the world. His legacy continues to inspire millions to create a positive impact.
With a mind as vast and boundless as emptiness,
A body like an unbound boat that sails the ocean of Dharma.
What merit and virtue have I accomplished in this lifetime?
Peace and happiness shine upon the five continents.

2023年2月5日，佛光山开山 上星下云大师，于庄严念佛声中，圆寂于佛光山传灯楼开山寮，享耆寿97岁。澳洲星云大师教育基金会特设立此网页，供大众追思缅怀。
大师一生弘扬人间佛教、建设佛光净土、利益群生。综观大师一生，秉持佛陀教法，提倡 “以文化弘扬佛法，以教育培养人才”，为教界树立典范，为世间带来光明。大师的慈心悲愿亦启发众人追随其脚步，为增进人类福祉做出贡献。
心怀度众慈悲愿，身似法海不系舟；
问我一生何所求，平安幸福照五洲。

天空又多了一颗明星和一片祥云。深切悼念大师🙏🏻
Venerable Master Hsing Yun,
You have established a school in the Philippines with a compassionate heart to help us young hopeful individuals. A once in a lifetime opportunity of quality education was given to us. Thank you for your life, for your dedication of propagating the Humanistic Buddhism, for teaching us to be good, in words, deed and thought. I will never forget the feeling of meeting you the first time. You have changed our lives in many ways.
Words will never be enough how grateful we are. Saddened by the news of your passing, we can only look back and remember each memory we have of you. As a Guang Ming scholar, I will continue to live by your words and wisdom, be the source of hope and light, as you have been with ours.
My heart is with all the Fo Guang family around the world. We hope to see you in the next lifetime!

I’m a student at Guang Ming Ming College who has the biggest dream of seeing you personally, thanking you personally, and hugging you personally, but my dream faded when I heard the news that you are now gone. We, your scholars, were grateful to have you and to know you. You are our shining star, our hope, and our dream. Thank you for teaching us to be kind, compassionate, and benevolent to others. Thank you for this biggest opportunity that you brought to it. Thank you so much, our great founder, Venerable Master Hsing Yun. We will continue spreading humanistic Buddhism as part of your mission. Maraming salamat (Thank you very much).
盯着大师的书 ，看了好久好久。
看到了他刚出家的样子，求道时受体罚的样子。
建寺时，遇到挫折不屈的样子。
慈悲喜舍度众生的样子。
与我而言，未曾见过大师真容，
但无数个我迷茫，难过，不知所措的日子里，床头边上都是大师的书籍
给了我无尽的智慧和力量。
他从一个遥远的人，渐渐的在我的心里树立一个伟岸的榜样。
大师说，这一生他是孤独的，没有特别喜欢的人，也没有讨厌的人。
于是在我孤独的日子里，一本本的阅读着《星云日记》，想要走近“星云”
知道了，他年轻的时候，也会被许多青春期的少女表达爱慕之情，又是如何充满智慧的去回应。
知道了，他弘法过程中，受过的委屈，遇到的磨难，又是如何笑着面对。
在日记中，感受着大师的欢喜 慈悲 。
想起大师在游历参访印度时，说从来没有拥抱过小孩，看着他们纯真的眼眸真想抱两个回台湾。
信众邀请做快艇，驰骋的感觉也觉得很过瘾，
足踏南沙群岛，在隧道里用餐，畅游蜘蛛网似的隧道，叹未曾有。
大师腿伤后说“其实腿伤对我的感觉是不曾疼过，人在面对欢喜与痛苦时，其气氛都可以自己去改造，每一个人都可以做自己的工程师，过自己想要过的生活模式”这段话就像一股生命的力量，带给我勇气与信心，它让我了解生命永恒的微笑，并非来自欢笑，而是累积在人生困境的超越上。
日记里的点点滴滴，体会大师无比的心力，体力，愿力与耐力，构筑出了我的精神长城。
每当思绪随着眼睛奔放在字里行间时，大师彷佛就在身边，用他朴实的语言，慈悲，欢喜，祥和的智慧，为我指引着方向。
大师圆寂的消息出来，我沉默了好久好久，泪水喷涌而出。
与我而言，习惯了驰骋在大师的文字智慧里，这样伟岸的人，向一盏灯照亮我每一个黑暗的瞬间。夜深人静时，万籁俱寂，反复咀嚼大师自生活中深刻体验而出的宝贵法语，又扩展了生命的深度，更认清了生活的本质，不自觉地感动，感恩，抹干泪水，我想，每一次抬头，星光闪耀，云彩斑斓，微风清扬，都会是大师乘愿而归时期。
作为大师的徒众，期望我们未来都能在人间佛教的大道上继续精进，大家相互勉励，共同为教珍重。

近日跪拜在师父您的灵前，巨星陨落，万般不舍，泪如泉涌😭 😭 😭 。。。。。感恩、惭愧、祈愿，叩愿呕心沥血将毕生献给众生的您所愿皆成🙏 🙏 🙏感念师父您将法水流五洲，海外游子处处有精神家园；感念大师创办星云文教馆给予的教育；感念言传身教的您留给世人倾注一生的文字般若；感念师父您在众生低落迷茫时法语的开示。。。短少文字无法完整表达您的伟岸和无量无边。。。《真诚的告白》，人生的明灯，生命的启迪，感恩合十🙏 🙏 🙏

星雲大師，我尊敬偉大的皈依師父，1998年在澳洲南天寺你為末学受戒，從此依教奉行人間佛教，通過師父的道塲當義工与大众結缘，你的心願創辦南天大学，教育澳洲学子，您的僧团是您的千百億化身，讓我通過讀書會学習正法，依止八正道，五戒十善，累積福德資糧，6/2/23是我沉痛難過的日子，噩訊傳来我不能接受，因為，師父您是我人生旅途的明燈，指引我行走康莊大道，您现在世缘已了，末学祗好依您的著作法寶，继續学习。祈願師父乘願再来，末学还是追隨師父的足跡，三好四给。
